The Results of our Questionnaires

We decided on a target audience by first finding out the genres preferred by specific ages. We did this by primarily asking twenty 12-15 year olds, twenty 16-18 year olds and twenty 18+'s their preferred genre:

Question 1 and 2 Results

The majority of 12-15 year old's ticked the 'other' box in the question, and when asked to develop this option we found that they chose 'animation' as their favourite genre. We have already decided we want to work within the horror or thriller genres, and so animation is unappealing to us which is why we decided against this age group as our target audience.

Question 3 and 4 Results

The 18 year olds' questionnaires resulted in us receiving an equal variation of answers. This indicates to us that they were impartial and willing to watch any genre of film, but again we decided against this age group because we want an audience who strongly agree that their favorite genre is horror/thriller.

Question 5 and 6 Results

Although we included the 'other' option in our questionnaire, horror and thriller proved to be the most popular genres. This result, along with us also being in this age group, has determined our target audience as being aged between 16 and 18.

We have come to the decision that we will be working within the particular genre of horror because it has a slight lead over thriller.

Question 7 Results

We asked this question because we wanted to find out the conventions that our target audience associate with our chosen genre; this is because it aids us when thinking of conventions to include in our film.
